Accessibility
These readings should be usable by everyone, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification, or reduced motion.
Our standard
The site is designed and tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. We treat this as an ongoing obligation rather than a certificate, and we have not commissioned an independent audit.
What we have built in
- Semantic page structure with one main heading per page, landmarks, and a skip link.
- Full keyboard operation with a clearly visible focus outline.
- Text and controls that meet WCAG AA contrast in both the light and dark appearance, which follows your device setting.
- Layouts that reflow at narrow widths and at 200% and 400% zoom without horizontal scrolling.
- No content that depends on hover, color alone, sound, or video; no autoplay.
- Reduced-motion preferences respected: the only animation, a brief fade of decorative light on the homepage, is removed.
- Arabic passages marked with the correct language and right-to-left direction so assistive technology can announce them properly, and set as real text rather than images.
- Pages that work fully without JavaScript, and print cleanly.
How it has been tested
Before publication we test pages with automated accessibility checks (axe-core), keyboard-only navigation, browser zoom and narrow-screen reflow, and both color schemes. Automated testing cannot find every problem, and we have not yet completed testing with every screen reader.
Known limitations
Arabic Quran text is shown with a credited English translation, but audio recitation is not provided. Screen readers vary in how well they pronounce fully vowelled Arabic.
