Free readings on the Quran
Come to know Allah through the words you already recite.
Short, free readings that help you understand the Quran: what it says, what it asks of you, and what it tells you about Allah. Gently written, carefully sourced, and free of ads, sign-ups, and donation appeals.
Begin here
وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِى عَنِّى فَإِنِّى قَرِيبٌ ۖ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ ٱلدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ
And when My servants question thee concerning Me, then surely I am nigh. I answer the prayer of the suppliant when he crieth unto Me.
If any of this sounds like you, you are in the right place.
- You recite the Quran in every prayer, and wish you understood what you are saying.
- You have felt far from Allah lately, and are not sure where to begin again.
- You are tired of noise, arguments, and harsh voices about your faith.
- You have only a few quiet minutes in a day, and want them to bring you closer.
Nothing here will shame you, sell to you, or ask you to sign up. It is simply reading, offered for the sake of Allah.
01The readings
Start where you are
- 01 What you say in every prayer: Al-Fatihah, verse by verse The seven verses Muslims recite in every prayer, set out one at a time with the Arabic, a credited translation, and a plain explanation of key words, so the next prayer can be prayed with a little more understanding.
- 02 When you feel far from Allah Distance from Allah is a feeling many Muslims know and few talk about. Four verses of the Quran speak directly to it: about nearness, about mercy, and about where hearts find rest.
- 03 A small, steady practice with the Quran You do not need an hour a day or fluent Arabic to build a real connection with the Quran. A practical way to begin with a few minutes, one passage, and a translation, and to keep going.
02Our promise
What you can expect from us
Only what we can source
Every Quran passage carries its reference and a named translation. We do not invent quotations, hadith, or claims of scholarly approval.

We write gently. Our aim is to help you come closer to Allah, not to frighten or shame you.
No sides, no agenda
Where sincere scholars differ, we say so rather than take a side. We stay out of politics and sectarian arguments.
Free and private
No ads, no accounts, no tracking scripts, and no donation appeals. Just reading.
03Our name
Why we are called Allah Initiative
Our name says what this work is about. Everything we publish is meant to help you know Allah a little better, through His words in the Quran, and to carry that understanding into your prayer and your day.
Our symbol comes from the Light Verse of the Quran (24:35), which describes Allah’s light with the image of a lamp set in a small alcove in a wall, the kind of recess where people once placed a lamp so its light would fill the room. We hope each reading can be a small light like that: something that helps you see a little more clearly as you turn toward Him.
Allah Initiative is a small nonprofit, overseen by a board. We are not a mosque or a school, and we do not issue rulings. We simply offer careful reading, in the hope that it benefits you.
